Chiado Piede-à-Terre
A respectful approach to the building’s history and special attention to details thought of as a classical symphony that comes to life in today’s savoir-vivre.
The kitchen, with its central island, stands as the heart of the home, where family and friends frequently gather, embodying the essence of the residence as a social hub.
This Chiado Piede-à-Terre results from the rehabilitation of an 18th-century Lisbon apartment, nestled beside the Tagus River. Acquired by a young American couple, this 200m2 residence has been transformed to align with their contemporary lifestyle while preserving its historical essence.
The comprehensive redesign reimagines the original layout, expanding social areas and reinventing the kitchen and suites. This unique project marries historical respect with modern needs.
The apartment’s exceptional ceiling height of approximately 3 meters and pre-existing decorative elements are showcased to maintain its inherent charm. A thoughtful selection of materials, from marble and granite to silk and velvet, weaves a rich tapestry throughout the interiors. Hand-painted wallpaper and handmade tiles add bespoke touches, while natural and lacquered wood offer a balance of neutral and contrasting tones.
Furniture and decorative objects are curated from author pieces, distinguished historical items, and impressive works of art, enhancing the apartment’s individuality and comfort. This careful selection fosters a timeless ambiance that blends historic and classic details with a young, cheerful, and refreshing style.
